Slope of a Straight Line

Overview:


The slope of a straight line is defined as the measure of steepness of a line.
There are three methods of finding slope.
1. When the angle of inclination is given, slope m is calculated by using the formula:
m= tanθ,
2. When rise and run are given , slope m is calculated by using the formula:
m = rise/run,
3. When coordinates of any two points on a line are given, slope m is calculated by using the formula:
m= (x2-x1)/(y2-y1).
