Neutralization Reactions

Overview:


Acids dissociate in water and release hydrogen ions. Alkalies dissociate in water and release hydroxide ions. The process in which released hydrogen ions combine with hydroxide ions to form water is called the neutralization reaction.

After completing this module, you will be able to:
- Identify the ions present in acids and bases.
- Demonstrate the neutralization reaction of an acid and a base.
- Combine ions to perform a neutralization reaction between an acid and a base.
